We have a strong vision on MES

Listening to customers led to the 10 basic requirements for a new MES / MOM solution

1. Gradually and controled introduction
Most companies - at least more than 50 percent - see the importance to automate their operations on the shop floor in the need to be more efficient, more flexible and to produce better quality  (Smart Industry). However, most of the companies want to introduce this graduallly and controlled and want to keep on using the existing control hardware. The system has to meet these requirements.

2. Keep on doing things how you used to and change from there
At the time a system goes live for the first time
it should allow the organisation to continue doing operations on the way they were used to - but in an automated way. It should allow to name operational data in their own words, with their own logic rules and KPIs at their discretion.

3. No changes because of new system
The MES system must be subservient to operations. Introducing the system itself may not change the way functionallly in which operations are performed.

4. A smart system without extra burdens
For the personnel t
he new MES system must be intuitive and familiar to operate. The system should not increase the administrative burden but rather lead to a decrease.

5. Integrity, reliability, scalability and security
MES system must ensure integrity and must be reliable, extensible, scalable and secure. With respect to safety it should include user / user group based security and rights should be granted to objects. Data to be transported must be signed and encrypted. The system must have a high availability in order to perform critical tasks such as execution of operations. Therefore the system must be redundant, where servers take on each other tasks in case of failure. Redundancy applies to both data and tasks. In case of the recovering of the communication between two servers, the internal data has to to be synchronized automatically.

6. What data it should contain
The system must be able to handle large amounts of data. Millions of records for operations are no exception. The system must be able to store internal data in various ways, through memory, disk or database. Historizing of data should be done in an open relational database (access secured). Any object can be stored digitally signed. Each object must have the ability to store data in a chronological order and to play back / play foreward data . Play back / play foreward to say that the course of the values ​​of an object in the past or future can be recorded for a limited configurable duration. The system must be capable of both dynamic and static data. Dynamic has the ability to grow and schrink- adding and removing objects is possible - while static data ther instance are fixed like in a PLC. The system must be able to communicatie with different type devices (IoT), and systems. The system must be accessible by external clients if allowed. The system should have an alarm service.

7. How the system should handle data
Data in the MES system should be object-based and transparent, and easy approachable. On the surface there should be no difference between the invocation of an object in a real-time system such as a PLC, and the invocation of an object in a transaction-oriented system, such as a database or ERP system. In other words, a function as readObject (type, address) 'reads an object from the cloud regardless of what underlying system is behind it and what server it comes. A function like 'querieobject (type, criteria)' has some records may present from a database, but also can provide a number of data blocks from PLC.

8. Separation between production results and prodcution means
Operations, materials shall be used independently of machinery, plants and systems. Modeling should be object oriented. By two instances of functionally equal equipment, but each provided with a different PLC type, the functional logic to be shared while the hardware logic differs from each other.

9. No restriction on branch
A system should generally be used for virtually any type of business, for every type of business in manufacturing goods or services, utilities and building management.

10. Favorable priced
The system must be realized with favorable engineering costs, favorable license costs. Must have a simple licensing structure and the ability to develop the system in-house. Accessible SMEs and large companies.
